The 24th Annual Battery Powered Car Race was held February 19th at
Duquesne University. There were 61 teams competing in the event from
schools all over western PA. The kids were given a battery and a motor,
then had to create their own car and a powerpoint explaining their design
process. Each team was given 3 time trials and the fastest 16 teams made it to
the playoffs. Three out of the four 10th Street teams made it to the playoffs.
When it was all over, we came in 10th, 6th, and 3rd place.
Our third place team was awarded a nice trophy. The students did a wonderful job. They were complimented several times on
their sportsmanship (cheering for each other and the other teams), their
manners, and on how well their cars performed.
