Pennsylvania Auditor General Timothy DeFoor recently visited Riverview Junior-Senior High School to speak with students in Mrs. Kvortek's Personal Finance classes and discuss financial literacy. Students heard firsthand about the importance of saving money, understanding and managing debt, investing, and other general finance principles.
It is a topic Riverview is well acquainted with — the district made the personal finance course a graduation requirement back in 2015. That is nearly nine years ahead of a state law, passed in December, requiring all schools in Pennsylvania to teach financial literacy.
Last year, Next Gen Personal Finance named Riverview a Gold Standard School for our forward-looking requirement.
Thanks to Mrs. Kvortek for spearheading this effort at Riverview!
