On Tuesday, April 29th, Riverview junior high students participated in a dynamic and meaningful assembly centered around the themes of community and belonging. The event was led by two outstanding professionals from the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, Mr. Michael Jones and Dr. Licia Lentz, who brought both expertise and enthusiasm to the program.
This assembly is part of a broader initiative at Riverview to strengthen the social and emotional well-being of students by addressing the interpersonal and community-oriented aspects of school life. The community and belonging programming complements existing academic and behavioral support systems, providing students with the tools and mindset needed to thrive in a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive environment.
During the session, Mr. Jones and Dr. Lentz guided students through a series of interactive activities designed to promote teamwork, communication, and mutual respect. Through these engaging exercises, students explored real-world social skills, learning how to listen actively, support one another, and contribute meaningfully to group efforts. A highlight of the assembly was a spirited competition phase. This friendly competition underscored the message that growth comes through effort and that improvement is always possible with a positive mindset.
Riverview is excited to continue its collaboration with Mr. Jones and Dr. Lentz as part of our ongoing commitment to fostering citizenship, empathy, and social-emotional development among our students. We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Jones and Dr. Lentz for delivering an exceptional and impactful program. Your work is truly appreciated by the entire Riverview community!
