David Turk is extremely excited and humbled to be the assistant principal at Riverview Jr-Sr High School! A proud educator since December 2009, Dr. Turk earned his Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) from PennWest California during the summer of 2023. He previously earned his Master of Education degree in K-12 Principal from California University of Pennsylvania (now PennWest California) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Slippery Rock University, where he graduated magna cum laude.
After graduating from Slippery Rock University, Dr. Turk began his career as a building substitute teacher and coach at Perry High School (Pittsburgh Public Schools) and served summers as a teacher/counselor for youth at The Academy Schools for two years. Dr. Turk later began his full-time teaching and coaching experience at Ambridge Area High School located in Beaver County. Dr. Turk was a teacher and coach in the Ambridge Area School District for eight years, until transitioning to administration.
While at Ambridge Area School District, Dr. Turk served in various administrative roles, including middle school assistant principal, high school assistant principal, athletic director, facilities coordinator and AEDY coordinator. He served in these five positions in combination right before coming to Riverview School District. During the beginning of the 2021-22 school year, he also had the excellent experience of serving as the middle school principal/athletic director for the first 12 weeks of the school year. This experience was very challenging but taught Dr. Turk a lot about the importance of collaboration, communication and consistency.
In his personal time, Dr. Turk enjoys time at home with his family. He is married with three kids (Junie, Henry and Teddy). He has been weight training since the age of 13 and has also competed in various competitions.
