Riverview Model UN Team Comes Out Swinging with 15 Awards at 27th Annual Pitt Conference!
On Tuesday, October 24th, the Riverview Model UN team began its 2023-24 season at the 27th Annual University of Pittsburgh Model United Nations Conference. The university hosted 400 students from 25 schools in Pennsylvania and West Virginia at the one-day simulation.   The 20 member Riverview Team was comprised of a mix of veteran and rising delegates who debated topics ranging from the Ukrainian grain crisis, the international use of canals, and the Greek debt crisis. I am pleased to report that the team won 15 awards on the day! 

Team members winning awards were:

  • Chiara Brun and Eva Rasse - First Place Best Delegation in General Assembly 3:  Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee
  • Molly Morrissey - First Place Best Delegate in the Hellenic Parliament
  • Drew Ogrodowski - First Place Best Position Paper in the US National Security Council
  • Georgia Tsambis - First Place Best Delegate in the 2nd Punic War Committee
  • Brandon Williams - First Place Best Delegate in the International Assembly on Space Exploration
  • Callie Harden - Second Place Outstanding Position Paper in the Syrian Civil War Committee
  • Cohen Hoolahan - Second Place Outstanding Delegate in the Hellenic Parliament
  • Eva Rasse - Second Place Outstanding Position Paper in General Assembly 3:  Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee
  • Georgia Tsambis - Second Place Outstanding Position Paper in the 2nd Punic War Committee
  • Brandon Williams - Second Place Outstanding Position Paper in the International Assembly on Space Exploration
  • Lola Abraham - Third Place Honorable Position Paper in the United Nations Childrens' Fund (UNICEF)
  • Callie Harden - Third Place Honorable Delegate in the Syrian Civil War Committee
  • Molly Morrissey - Third Place Honorable Position Paper in the Hellenic Parliament
  • Lola Abraham - Verbal Commendation in the United Nations Childrens' Fund (UNICEF)
The final award on the day, a First Place Large School Delegation Award, went to our students representing the Russian Delegation.  Those students were Lola Abraham, Rocco Brown, Chiara Brun, Jordan Grogg, Callie Harden, Eva Rasse, and Brandon Williams.

Congratulations to the entire team on a great start to the year! The team will next be in action at Princeton University on November 15-19.
