Riverview Welcomes New School Board Director Antonio Paris

OAKMONT, Pa., Aug. 29, 2022 – The Riverview Board of School Directors appointed Mr. Antonio Paris, 28, of Oakmont, Pa., in a first-round unanimous vote to fill a board vacancy. He was sworn in Monday night and immediately took his seat on the board.

A 2012 graduate of Riverview Junior-Senior High School, Mr. Paris was extremely involved in activities as a student – he was part of yearbook, key club, cheer, athletics, Model UN and musical, among other extracurriculars. He remains a big booster of the district. “I’m definitely excited to join and get to work,” he said. “I think for myself in particular, it is very special (to serve) a community that has given a lot to me.”

Board members remarked highly of the field of candidates who attended the Aug. 22 combined study session/regular voting meeting for board interviews. In addition, several directors also spoke of the fresh voice and perspective Mr. Paris would provide as part of the board.

Following his secondary education at Riverview, Mr. Paris attended Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology, followed by a Master of Studies in Law from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and, most recently, a Juris Doctorate from Ave Maria School of Law in 2021. Mr. Paris is currently a law clerk and new Associate hire with Pittsburgh-based law firm, Burns White, LLC.

Mr. Paris is serving the term vacated by Mrs. Tara Jean Schaaf, which runs until December 2023. In that capacity, Mr. Paris will serve as the representative of the student life committee.
