Riverview Students Participate in Regional Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Competition
On Saturday, February 8th, 13 Riverview students participated in the regional Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) competition held at Baldwin High School.  PJAS allows students to complete scientific laboratory experiments and STEM related investigations under the guidance of a teacher mentor.  Students then present their results to a panel of scientists and engineers who evaluate the quality of the student's work.  The following students presented projects at the competition.

We are pleased to announce that 9 students (Elizabeth, Penelope, Joss, Rebecca, Iris, Elise, Bianca, Nick, and Rocco) earned First Awards for their projects, making them eligible to compete at the state PJAS competition in May!  In addition, Iris Versaw earned two special awards, the University of Pittsburgh Excellence in Biology Award and the Director’s Award in Botany.  Rocco Brown earned a Perfect Score Award for his project and presentation, while Penelope Murphy was awarded the Director’s Award in Earth and Space Science.  Special recognition was also given to Addison Carangio for having participated in the regional PJAS competition for the past five years as she received a Five Year Perseverance Award.

Congratulations to all of the Riverview participants for their hard work and dedication to their research over the past few months!  We are so proud of their accomplishments and their dedication to STEM related fields of study.
