Riverview Elementary Students Celebrate the Month of CODE

Elementary level students at Tenth Street and Verner schools celebrated the Month of Code in December with some interactive educational experiences that brought the wonders of robotics and coding to our classrooms. This year’s celebration was highlighted by engaging virtual sessions led by CodeJoy, a Pittsburgh-based company. Through CodeJoy’s online platform, students in grades 3-6 experienced the thrill of controlling robots during live broadcasts from the CodeJoy studio. The students loved the interaction and learned some coding and problem-solving skills in the process. In addition, 6th grade students are coding Finch robots to plan a winter parade for the younger students featuring decorated mini floats..

For learners in grades K-2, the celebration featured fun activities with BeeBots, a hands-on coding tool. The district’s youngest coders used these playful robots to explore basic computer science principles and practice working as part of a team.
