13th Annual Model United Nations Conference
On Monday, Oct.14, Riverview High School hosted 10 neighboring schools and over 220 students at its 13th annual Model United Nations conference (RMUNC). The conference has traditionally been an opportunity for new students to try their hands at the craft that is Model UN and this year also expanded to include competitive rooms to permit veterans to prepare and practice. The upper-class members of the Riverview team (Seniors: Renton Biondich, Chiara Brun, Carter Loughren, Molly Morrissey, and Drew Ogrodowski, as well as juniors Rocco Brown, Murphy Hawk, Aicha Jaafar, Grace Johnson, and Siddaly Sykes), and a few alumni volunteered their time to chair the 7 rooms spanning from the World Health Organization to the Security Council to the Dayton Accords. The conference was well received by all attendees.  Everyone appreciated the opportunity to learn and practice in preparation for the upcoming MUN circuit season.

Also, at the conference, three of Riverview's young team members started off the year with award recognition.

Hannah Hudack - Second Place Outstanding Delegate as Algeria in the Security Council

Ryland Ogrodowski - Second Place Outstanding Delegate as Latvia in NATO

Ella Fabyanic - Third Place Honorable Delegate as Slovenia in NATO

The team will be participating in four conferences in the fall season: November 8-9 at Gannon University; November 21-24 at Princeton University, December 4-7 at Great Lakes Model United Nations in Kalamazoo, Michigan and on December 10 at the University of Pittsburgh Model European Union.
