Every year, the American Legion Post 600 of Oakmont presents the
American Legion Award
to two 8th grade students who best demonstrate the qualities of the
American Legion. This is the most prestigious honor awarded in the Junior High.
The qualities are HONOR, SCHOLARSHIP, SERVICE, LEADERSHIP,
LOYALTY, and COURAGE. In order to qualify, one must have been on honor roll or
high honor roll in three nine-week grading periods and be nominated by a
teacher. Each nominee must then present a 3 –5 minute speech pertaining to
someone who best demonstrates the qualities of the American Legion to a panel of judges.
The Nominees for the 2020 American Legion Award are Lola Abraham, Caroline
Harden, Cohen Hoolahan, Molly Hower, Emma Killmeyer, Jack Loughren, Georgia
Tsambis, Charles Untalan, Patrick Upperman, and Isaac Versaw.
It is our pleasure to announce that the winners of this year’s
American Legion Award are Molly Hower and Jack Loughren.
Congratulations!
