7 Riverview Students Awarded Global Scholars Certificates
On Friday, March 12, 2021, seven Riverview seniors received their Global Scholars Certificates in a recognition ceremony hosted by the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh.

The students were acknowledged during the virtual celebration by Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. The Global Scholars Program began at Riverview in 2018 in partnership with the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia. The program requires students to take courses in global learning, attend and participate in events with a global focus, and create or support a project centered around global education.

The program that the students helped create and facilitate is a Global Language Education Program for elementary students. This project has Riverview students teaching elementary children the languages of Spanish and French as well as familiarizing the children with the culture of the region. Although the program was unable to be held this year due to the pandemic, the work and effort that these students dedicated to this program has set a great foundation for the future.

This year marks the second group of Riverview students to receive this honor. The seven recipients are Lauren Hornsby, Jakob Killmeyer, Elizabeth Novikova, Elizabeth Shoop, Sydney Wilson, Eleni Wyrick, and Kathryn Zatawski.

Congratulations to all on this accomplishment!
