Riverview Elementary Students Triumph at Children’s Choice Book Awards

Twenty enthusiastic young readers from the Riverview School District proudly represented their schools at the Children’s Choice Book Awards, hosted by Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA) in Homestead. Their hard work and dedication to reading paid off as Riverview students impressively swept the podium—earning 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the event’s much-anticipated Battle of the Books competition.

In preparation for the event, students read at least five of the eight books selected by the CCA Awards Committee—though many exceeded expectations by reading all eight titles. The Battle of the Books challenge put their comprehension, recall and teamwork to the test in a fast-paced, quiz-style format.

In addition to the competition, students enjoyed exciting appearances by graphic novelist Matthew Holmes and graphic artist John Mruck, as well as musical entertainment from Gabby and Josh.

We are so proud of our Riverview Readers!
