Twelve junior high and high school students joined the Riverview elementary schools at the annual Equations tournament at Montour High School on Tuesday, Dec. 10. This tournament, sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Academic Games League, required students to combine math skills, strategy and an understanding of game protocol.
Anthony Tsambis led the way with a perfect score in the 9/10th grade division and qualified for nationals for the third straight year. Joining Anthony as a national qualifier were juniors Korbin Cooper and Carter Baldwin, who had near perfect scores of 16, while Oscar Smith barely missed qualifying.
At the junior high level we had numerous competitive players led by Logan Gornic and Ben Radelet, who just fell short of qualifying with 14 points, while Miles Baldwin also had a great day with 12.
On the elementary level, attendees included Riverview 5th graders Josh Folaron, Mila Jablonski, Elin Richman, Isla Truby, Walle Sullivan, and Timo Viray; 6th graders Chase Boyer, Jack Davison, Evie Decker, Jules DeLeo, Adrienne Morgan, Sebastian Saunders, Ben Stimmel, Nicky Talpas, Isla Truby and Grayson Yorio.
