Katerina Tsambis Named 2024-25 Girls Basketball Player of the Year

Riverview senior Katerina Tsambis has earned the title of 2024-25 Girls Basketball Player of the Year from the Valley News Dispatch. Throughout the season, Katerina averaged an impressive 18.3 points per game and scored in double figures 18 times out of 19 games. Her leadership was also on full display during the Cager Classic on April 5, where she led the Girls East team with 11 points.

Katerina’s hard work and dedication will be celebrated at the Alle-Kiski Valley Sports Hall of Fame Banquet on May 17, where she will be recognized alongside other standout student-athletes from the fall and winter sports seasons.

Also being honored at the event will be the Burrell Hockey Club, who triumphed in the Division 2 State Title on March 22. Among the co-op team are Riverview students Landon Johnson, Asher Ross and Mikey Morascyzk, who played key roles in the championship victory.

In addition, the 2025 inductees will include former Raiders boys basketball coach and Oakmont resident Paul Sapotichne.

The 54th Alle-Kiski Valley Sports Hall of Fame banquet will take place on Saturday, May 17, at 7 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Shriners Center in Harmar. Tickets are available for $40 each and can be ordered directly from the Hall’s website: Order Tickets Here
