Riverview Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Poth!

Welcome to another edition of Riverview Teacher Spotlight! This time, we celebrate the jack of all trades herself, Junior-Senior High School Foreign Language teacher Mrs. Rachelle Denè Poth!

As many of her students know, Mrs. Poth has wears numerous hats in addition to teacher, including consultant, published author and attorney, among others.

She clearly likes to keep busy.

“I have like, ten jobs,” Mrs. Poth said. On top of her busy schedule educating Riverview students, Mrs. Poth has published seven books, with another on the way. A number of her books have even had covers designed by a Riverview student!

Throughout her life, Mrs. Poth’s curiosity led her to become an expert in whatever she studies. High school French class turned into a French language degree; job openings in Spanish led to a Spanish teaching certification; reading John Grisham novels turned into a law degree from Duquesne University — Mrs. Poth is relentless in her academic pursuits.

“I’ve always loved learning,” she said. “Education is what motivates me.”

Over her 24 years at Riverview, Mrs. Poth has taught hundreds of students, including two generations from the same family! “I’m teaching the kids of some of my former students...talk about feeling old,” she said.

Last year, she was named one of the 30 K-12 IT Influencers to Follow by EdTech Magazine and her latest book, “Things I Wish [...] Knew” was published on Dec. 18, 2021 and shares inspiring stories from educators around the country. One of the stories is from our very own Riverview Superintendent Dr. Neil English!

Here are some other facts about Mrs. Poth:

  • Owner of seven (7) cats!

  • Recipient of 6 Presidential awards for volunteer service to education

  • Is currently working on her fifth degree (her second doctorate!)

  • Has more than 31,000 followers on Twitter.

  • Writes for six blogs (including her own) and has her own podcast!

Thanks, Mrs. Poth, for all that you do! We are lucky to have you at Riverview!
