10.20.2020 Superintendent's Bulletin

Dear Riverview Community,

As many of you have probably heard, the Board voted favorably last night to add a hybrid option for the 2nd nine weeks of school (a virtual option will also be available to those that chose it).  Therefore, our gratitude this week extends to the Board for establishing health and safety as the primary driver in their decision-making and demonstrating their genuine care for the students and families in this community. We thank you.  Remember, this plan relies on the choices that parents made on the transition survey in regard to the 2nd nine weeks (please hold to the choices that you made on the survey as our ability to social distance depends on the numbers remaining consistent). Our plan will extend through the 2nd nine weeks (January 26, 2021).

The first link (in yellow) takes you to a preliminary document outlining the instructional and virtual days of the hybrid option.  The second link (in green) takes you to the updated Health and Safety Plan.  The Health and Safety Plan provides a more detailed explanation of the safety protocols and established expectations for in-person learning (we highly encourage you to read through this document in its entirety).  Both of these documents are also posted on the front page of our District website.

Updated Riverview Health and Safety Plan 10.20.20

We spoke last night at the Board meeting about holiday travel and have also received additional questions from families.  For this year, we encourage families to stay home through cold and flu season.  This will allow us get to through the travel season with the best opportunity to keep the schools safe.  If you do travel, we ask that you adhere to the guidelines on the Pennsylvania Department of Health website (in yellow below) in terms of recommended steps upon traveling to a state with high amounts of cases.  This website is updated weekly.

Pennsylvania Department of Health COVID-19 Information for Travelers

Please note, the end of the 1st marking period occurs on October 29th.  There is no school on October 30th.  Halloween on Saturday, the 31st (please stay socially distant and safe)!  Parent/teacher conferences occur on November 2nd.  There is no school on November 3rd.  November 4th will be a virtual day for all students in the new plan. Therefore, Thursday, November 5th will mark the first in-person day of the 2nd nine weeks.

Finally, please schedule you and your family to receive the flu shot this year.  Receiving the flu shot will allow us to better manage COVID-19 and help us to get through the winter months safely.  We thank you for your cooperation in this regard.

Please stay tuned as more detailed information will be released soon.

Sincerely,

The Riverview Administration
