41st Annual

Yale Model UN Conference

This past weekend, January 22-25, 2015, eight Riverview students, Jocey Ostrowski, Will Gonsowski, Andrew Zentgraf, Christian Snyder, Bree Patsey, Daniel Fawcett, Lena Ison, and Dana Grover, participated in the 41st annual Yale Model United Nations Conference. Over 1600 students from over 10 countries competed in the 4 day simulation. The students debated issues such as how to aid citizens living on a sinking island nation to how best to unify the nations of the Arab League as well as creating a hypothetical Holy Mediterranean Empire. I am pleased to report that our Riverview team had yet another successful weekend. Four Riverview students received award recognition at the Yale conference bringing the team award total for the 2014-2015 season to 20 so far. The students being recognized at Yale this past weekend were:

Christian Snyder: First Place Best Delegate as Vicar of Oriens in the Empire Eterna Committee

Daniel Fawcett: Third Place Honorable Delegate as International Organization for Migration in the Advisory Panel on Water Security

Lena Ison: Third Place Honorable Delegate as Bahrain in the Arab League

Bree Patsey: Fourth Place Commendable Delegate as Social Medial Relations in the Press Corps

Also this weekend, Jocey Ostrowski completed an interview with the founder of BestDelegate.com, the main Model United Nations website. You can see this and other articles from Jocey Ostrowski and Bree Patsey on the Yale Model UN page http://thedailyy.yira.org/
