Hello and Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!

I am so excited to begin my fourth year as the 5th grade ELA/Writing teacher at Tenth Street Elementary with big goals and high standards for our 5th graders. We are going to do BIG things this year in ELA! I can't wait to see all that we achieve with a Growth Mindset and hard work.

I am so thrilled that I have the chance to partake in this VERY important year in your child’s education. Throughout this year, as I am sure you already know, there will be a great amount of mental, physical, and social growth that occurs within your child; therefore, I hope to keep the communication between the classroom and home as open as possible. Working together throughout this year will undoubtedly help your child to prosper.

If I haven't had the opportunity to work with your family yet at Riverview, I know that sending your child for approximately 7 hours a day, 5 days a week to a “stranger” may not settle well for all; so, allow me to introduce myself! I am Mallory Hopple, originally from Greensburg, Pennsylvania; however, I now reside in the town of Gibsonia with my husband, Jeff, my daughter, Alyza, and my dog, Lacey. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Developmental Psychology. Immediately following graduation, I returned to obtain my Elementary Education Instructional I certificate and my Masters of Education. I have a plethora of experience working with/teaching children which includes: an internship with the DART preschool program in Upper Saint Clair, acting as a camp counselor for 3-6 year olds and 10-12 year olds for 5 summers, multiple long term substitute positions within Bethel Park Elementary schools over a 4 year span, multiple long term substitute positions at Tenth Street Elementary (YES, I did teach some of you in Kindergarten, right here at Tenth Street, 5 years ago!) and Verner Elementary, and recently spent 2 years as the 6th grade ELA and Social Studies Teacher at Verner Elementary School before returning to Tenth Street in 2019.

On a more personal note, I LOVE the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and Panthers (P-I-T-T, LET'S GO PITT). I enjoy playing all sports, but especially volleyball and basketball. I can shop until I (literally) drop and I enjoy spending time with my family and close friends. I really hope you have the opportunity to get to know more about me during my time in Room 215 as I am looking forward to getting to know you, your child, and your family!

I am so excited that the school year is finally upon us and I will do my best to make it an extremely exciting and enriching experience for us all. I hope to eventually use this website as a means to communicate important assignments/projects/Due dates, documents that are pertinent to your child's educational experience, and any other important information regarding our classroom and our wonderful school.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at [email protected] or you can get a hold of me by calling the school and leaving a message as I assure you I will get back to you as soon as possible!

I look forward to meeting you soon!
