Parent Information

As a parent, you are an essential partner in your child's education. Supporting your child through the education process takes a team approach. There are many partners that are able to provide parents of students with disabilities support, including Riverview School District.

There are federally funded organizations within Pennsylvania which provide training and assistance to families of students with disabilities. Click on the hyperlinks below for more information.

Parent Education and Advocacy Leadership The Parent Education & Advocacy Leadership Center was established in October 2005 as an organization of parents of children with disabilities reaching out to assist other parents of children with disabilities and special health care needs, and professionals. The PEAL Center began as the parent training and information center (PTI) serving 43 counties in central and western Pennsylvania with a focus on education and community supports.http://www.pealcenter.org/

Office of Dispute Resolution  ODR provides the resources for parents and educational agencies to resolve disputes concerning the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of a free appropriate public education for students with disabilities, students who are gifted and children with disabilities served by the early intervention system.
